The House of 1000 Mirrors (Japanese folktale)Long ago in a small, far away village, there was place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often." In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, "That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."
All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?
I just thought this was quite an inspirational story. If you're happy, the people around you will naturally be happy. If you're upset, the people around you will also naturally be upset. I like to hang out with friends that have smiles on their faces, isn't it the same for you? (:
Went for FFW today, invited manda and jj along and the topic was on God being faithful.
Having a rough patch recently, and I wasn't feeling so good. God reminded me that He is always faithful, always there, and that He'll not tempt me beyond what I can bear. Even if He tempts me, He'll provide a way out. I haven't heard that in such a long time. Not in my memory since I left PL.
Daily devotions in school helped to balance my spiritual life, at least there was a daily dosage of God's word. Though I don't wish to confess, I have to admit that my spiritual life is rather dry. I haven't been praying frequently, nor have I been doing my quiet time. I constantly forget that God is around, and I haven't kept to His word or remembered His promises. I try to do things on my own strength, and I don't seek Him at all. Maybe that's why I'm feeling all this now. Because I haven't listened, because I haven't kept to the path.
Trials and tribulations. It was never easy being a Christian, but I thank God I am one. Even though I'm unhappy now, I'll smile in the face of suffering because I know after these hard times, I'll learn, I'll grow, I'll mature.
And I'll become stronger, better and closer to God.
I want to smile in the mirror and see a 1000 smiles. (:
